Audition Preparation

For actor/singers - both new and seasoned - audition and callback
preparation can be part of our sessions. This includes:

  • suggestions for audition songs and monologues

  • strengthening and specifying your chosen material

  • teaching music and working on sides assigned by directors

  • selecting audition cuts and appropriately marking sheet music

  • guidance on resumes and referrals for headshot photographers

  • address general audition expectations, etiquette, and processes

  • notify you when applicable audition opportunities arise

  • breaking down and further explain everything I just listed!
(It’s ok if you don’t know all of these things yet!)

Once you’ve booked the job (congrats!!), we can work on your material, though
I’ll prefer to be in touch with your music director for alignment purposes.

Music Theory and Basic Piano

For students without previous music background, I’ll teach music theory and how to read sheet music over the course of our lessons. Students wishing to understand the basics of piano can receive this training throughout our lessons together, as well.

Quarterly Recitals

“Optional-but-encouraged” quarterly recitals allow students to practice wringing out any nervous butterflies that can come with performing and sing any material they’re excited to share be it repertoire we’re working on or an audition cut for an upcoming audition. The Fall, Winter, and Spring recitals are open for student-viewing only, and family and friends are invited to watch the Summer recital.
These events are currently held virtually.

Monologue & Speech Coaching

monologue coaching can be part of our session. For students participating in speech competitions in school, I can offer coaching in this area as well.

Building Your Audition Book

An “audition book” is a binder you take to auditions that is filled with a variety of prepared, ready-to-go snippets of songs (in sheet music form) that you know and can totally slay. For singers geared towards musical theatre, audition books are a necessity. I will help you build your audition book by finding, gathering, and teaching music, offering audition cut ideas, and teach you how to mark and cut your music appropriately so the piano accompanist at the audition will love you!
